About the Valley

Cachapoal forms the northern half of the Rapel Valley appellation, sitting between the Andes and the coastal range in Chile's Central Valley. The Cachapoal River moderates temperatures and provides irrigation to the vineyards, while the surrounding mountains create a natural amphitheatre that concentrates heat during the growing season.

The valley is home to some of Chile's most respected producers, including Altair and Haras de Pirque, who have invested heavily in understanding the terroir of this underexplored region. Cachapoal's Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère show a distinctive elegance and structure — less overtly powerful than Colchagua to the south, with a refined mineral quality that rewards patience in the cellar.
